TA day 12: Over the Remutaka Range to home in Wellington

Here's a video of Robert's last day riding the North Island from top to bottom.

Now it is Marianne's turn, the South Island awaits!

Robert's North Island stats:
  • Just over 1600km riding (plus 75km boat rides)
  • Nearly 1570km of the official course covered (hence 100km of extra mileage!)
  • Nearly 20000m vertical climbing
  • 12 days elapsed time, nearly 91 hours of riding time
  • Shortest and longest days in distance - 90km and 167km
  • Shortest and longest days in riding time - 5 hours 36 minutes and 9 hours 21 mins
  • No flat tires, no nasty encounters with motor vehicles
  • 8 pies, lots of burgers, milkshakes and icecreams, even more slices, and muesli bars
  • 9 nights of tenting, 2 nights with a roof over my head

  1. Awesome effort, and a great blog. What an adventure, you looked a little bit emotional sitting on Petone beach.
    Hope the South Island goes just as well for Marianne.
